Caring for Cashmere and Merino
Fine knitwear rewards a little attention. A simple routine for washing, drying and storing the pieces you want to keep.

Cashmere and merino are among the most comfortable fibres you can wear, and with gentle care they become softer over time. Most problems — shrinking, stretching, pilling — come from heat, friction and hanging, all of which are easy to avoid.
Wear, then rest
Wool recovers its shape when it rests. Fold the knit after wearing and give it a day or two before you wear it again; airing it overnight is often all it needs between washes.
Washing by hand
- Always check the care label first and follow it.
- Use cool water and a small amount of wool detergent.
- Turn the knit inside out and press it gently through the water — never rub or wring.
- Rinse in water of the same temperature to avoid shocking the fibres.
Drying and storing
Roll the knit in a clean towel to press out excess water, then reshape it and dry it flat, away from direct heat and sunlight. Store knitwear folded, never on a hanger, and keep it clean and dry through the warmer months.
A little pilling is not a flaw, simply friction. A cashmere comb lifts it away in moments.
